October 15 – October 21, 2012

You know what I been thinking during my run on October 15?  I think the indication of I found that 20 bucks while I run is that America is on the path of recovery from the recession for real.

When I first move here in 2005, I found money while I run pretty often.  Then one of sudden all that stop around spring of 2008.  I found nothing from spring 2008 to spring 2012; I mean really nothing at all.  Not sure I don’t look at the ground any more or just other runners pick up money before I get to it.  Now that I found 20-buck first and I found coins again every other day while me out-and-about.
Nothing really special in term of running these two weeks; I ran 43m’40s’ on a middle school ball field on 10/15.  Then I ran for 49m’12s’ on Tuesday.  Wednesday was track workout and I moved up to 2-mile repeat instead one.  Before the workout, I planned to run 3x2-mile at 6m’ pace with 800 break, and Art agreed to help me out with 3 miles only as he gearing up for Stone Mill 50 on November 17.  We did our warm up and we were out.  Once again, Art is an excellent pacer, he clocked exactly 89 ~ 90 second on every single of those 12-lap that he was pacing me.  After that, I slowed down without anyone I can chase after.  I end up running these – 11m'55.17s', 12m'03.36s', & 12m'25.69s'.
Thursday morning was somewhat sore, but nothing major; got in 59m’45s’ to Hais Point before work.  Took Friday off and ran about an hour on Saturday morning (included warm up, XC race, & warm down).  I got up early on Saturday morning, drove out to Black Hill Park for a low-key MCRRC race.  Black Hill XC 10K is not an easy course and has a true adventure race course.  I got in a quick warm up and “GO” was called. We stroll down the road into trail soon after.  I thought was recover from the workout for the race, but I start feeling the sore about a mile into the race, sore quad and tight gluteus.  I switch the gear down and slowly get myself to the finish.  I don’t want to hurt myself four weeks before marathon.  I finished with a time 44m’53s’, good enough for a seventh place overall, first in age group.
I slept in some on Sunday morning and stroll out on Aspen Hill neighborhood for 26.2 Kilo run.  According to Thunder Road Marathon elevation map stated that has a rolling course.  So I decided to run a marathon simulator four weeks before the marathon.  I understood that I was sore from track workout and XC race the day before; which is okay, since I am not supposed to rest for the run.  Detail is here.

I finished with an average pace of 7m’07s’; it is pretty fast as long run pace, but not too fast to tire me out.
