June 1 – June 4, 2012 (勿忘六四)

I didn't run any miles on June 1 and spend the day gather items together for Juni Rennen 5K in Germantown.  I got up early morning on June 2 and temp was cool down significantly after a night of heavy down pour.  I stroll around Aspen Hill and enjoy the coolness in air; logged in approx. 6 miles in 41m’59s’.  In the afternoon of second, I went out to Germantown to map the course one last time and laid cones.

I got out of bed so bloody early on June 3, since I am the Assistant Race Director for Juni 5K, so I get there before everyone else to ensure the race goes as planned.  Everything went so smoothly and I learn the experience and lesson on what to do to become a race director myself when time comes around in Aspen Hill.  One thing I must note here is I saw a real red fox in person when I drop off cones and stuff at the water stop; that little thing was ran away from us when s/he saw our vehicle and duck behind some low bush stared at us.  That was pretty cool!  Maybe I will see s/he again in Riley Rumble Half in August.

Aside for helped Trey to put it all together, I also ran the race, and I am really out of shape.  This race was to replacing Capital Crescent Trail 5K due county parking garage building next to the trail.  The course was laid on the paved trails loop around the football field area in the Germantown Rec Park and it is a hilly loop for a low key 5K race.  I finished with the race in 19m’17s’ and now I know I need to get back shape for the fall marathon training.  I ran the course second time as warm down.  I finished with approx. 6.2 miles for the day.

Today is June 4, 2012 and I was actually sore from the run when I roll out of bed this morning.  I took the morning run off and remind myself today is a day to remember.

23 years ago, thousands of Chinese students lost their lives to help China to become a better country; it is not exactly fulfill their dream yet, but I am sure that day will comes with the new incoming leaders and the new generation of Chinese people.
